Guillaume is an experienced IT professional who has contributed to many organizations, including the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, TD Bank and MCI/WorldCom. He holds an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and a global executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
With over 20 years of experience, Guillaume specializes in IT operations management, data centre management and IT infrastructure. In addition, he has managed large IT infrastructures as an IT director for various organizations and is currently an independent IT consultant for the Province of Ontario.
As managing director of Sapien Capital, Paul Gibson provides organizational design, coaching, executive search, scale-up and governance services to private and family businesses. He is a former executive with Fidelity Investments, Noma Industries and Mattamy Homes and recently completed a second term as governor of the University of Guelph. Additionally, Paul previously served as a strategic HR instructor at Ryerson University. A past director for charitable institutions and a governance advisor for manufacturing and academic organizations, he is also certified by the Institute of Corporate Directors. He has served as vice chair of WaterTAP, Ontario’s water technology accelerator.
In his private governance practice, Paul’s roles have included board secretary for Maple Reinders and executive director for a global artificial intelligence (AI) and digital modelling enterprise called OpenWorm Foundation. In previous roles, Paul has worked as a director of organizations within the medical sector, including West Park Healthcare Rehabilitation Hospital and Mohawk/Medbuy Shared Services as well as software-as-a-service AI startup Daisy Intelligence and affordable housing lender Home Ownership Alternatives.
As a member of the board, Paul brings a strong understanding of human capital as well as robust experience in organizing and governing to support AlphaPlus in embedding digital technology solutions within LBS organizations.
A senior digital transformation strategist, Dianne’s work takes focus on assisting organizations in identifying and integrating technology solutions to accelerate their growth and productivity. She holds over 25 years of experience owning and operating technology implementation business as the CEO of Trendspire Inc., a consultancy firm specializing in upgrading organizational capacity through business and digital transformation.
A full-stack developer and project management professional (PMP), Dianne has led technology teams within government and non-profit teams to implement multimillion-dollar technology integration projects, and is a former university and college professor with academic training in community development. As a business transformation architect, Dianne supports organizations to undergo complex technology transformations that improve service delivery and establish strategies for migration to digital channels. Throughout her career, she has served as senior VP, client service development for 108|ideaspace, PMP exam preparation lesson writer for Minddojo and technical product manager for Practica Learning.
After a multi-decade career as a woman in a leadership role in technology, Dianne brings unique skills and experience to the AlphaPlus board of directors. As a board member, she aims to support uptake of innovative and modern technologies including selection and adoption techniques and to support professional development of leaders in the sector.
Soumya is an accomplished senior executive with 21+ years of proven leadership roles across the US, Canada and UK/EU, primarily managing and launching multiple market-leading products to deliver growth and revenue for large multinational clients within the banking, financial services, insurance and airline industries. His global experience and expertise include corporate governance, digital transformation, marketing/social media strategy, cybersecurity, technology and business transformation, profit and loss management and organizational transformation.
Soumya possesses significant board and corporate governance experience and currently serves on the board of directors at Pine River Institute. In addition, he mentors young entrepreneurs through Futurpreneur Canada and has worked as a committee member at the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Soumya is keen on helping the organization implement effective instructional approaches and in amplifying the use of digital solution technologies to achieve learner success. As a board member, he will share his expertise within technology, innovation, finance and corporate governance to support the board.
Dr. Koosha Golmohammadi
Koosha Golmohammadi, has over 12-years’ experience in operational advanced analytics and driving business value. Koosha holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Alberta as well as an MSc and a BSc in software engineering. Throughout his career, Koosha has worked in different capacities as an analytics leader, consultant, and data scientist leading several teams and project portfolios and leveraging data analytics. His experience and expertise ultimately led to his current role as Director of Advanced Analytics at Manulife John Hancock.
As a lifelong learner, Koosha is passionate about supporting teachers and learners. He has contributed to initiatives with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) including the Teacher In-Service Program, teaching engineering concepts to elementary students. In addition, he served as Chair of Computers and Communication of IEEE Northern Canada Section from 2012 to 2017, and co-founded the Data Social Club, a non-profit to promote data science in 2017.
Yasir Mirza is a member of Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada with over 15 years of experience in public practice and both public and private industries. Presently, he is the Director, Global Accounting Policy, Group Finance for Manulife. Throughout his career, Yasir has managed financial functions including accounting policy, auditing, controls, and governance. He is also a member of professional accounting and auditing bodies in the United States, and the United Kingdom. In addition, Yasir has worked in statutory and management reporting, and contributed to many strategic initiatives. As a board member, Yasir will contribute his expertise in financial management, policy interpretation, and regulations to support the AlphaPlus mission.
Effie Slapnicar is the current bursar and chief administrative officer at St. Michael’s College (USMC) within the University of Toronto. She holds a master of business administration from the Schulich School of Business as well as a bachelor of science degree with focus on human biology and is presently an active board member of the Canadian Congenital Healthcare Alliance.
Effie brings many years of expertise to the AlphaPlus board of directors through her work and broad experience in senior leadership positions in both healthcare-focused and higher education-focused environments. In her previous role as director of operations of the Medical Doctor (MD) program, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, she oversaw several capital projects, including the curriculum renewal project, each of which enhanced the overall medical student experience.
In her current role at St. Michael’s College (USMC), Effie provides financial oversight and drives operational effectiveness to advance USMC’s mission and meet its vision to be Canada’s leading English-speaking Catholic university. As a member of the AlphaPlus board, Effie aims to apply her skills in strategic operations and experience in higher education to advance AlphaPlus’s strategic plan to build a sector-wide strategy for technology-rich adult learning.
Andrew Vaughan is an experienced criminal lawyer practicing in the GTA and a long term member on Legal Aid Ontario’s Extremely Serious Criminal Matters Panel. Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Calgary and received his law degree at Queen’s University.
Throughout his career, Andrew has mentored students and early-career lawyers to navigate workplace culture and demands while working as a firm manager himself. Throughout Andrew’s career, he has contributed to many charitable organizations. This includes serving as a member of the Board of Directors at Humewood House, a not-for-profit organization providing housing and support to youthful single mothers and vulnerable young pregnant women.
As a board member, Andrew intends to lend his well-rounded legal expertise, advocacy skills, and passion for adult education to support AlphaPlus in achieving its mission.
