Adding to My Skills: A New Numeracy Curriculum for Adult Learners — Project READ
March 23rd, 2011 by Monika Jankowska-Pacyna
Project READ’s Adding to My Skills: A New Numeracy Curriculum for Adult Learners document is now available for download from Project READ’s Publications page.
Geared towards adult learners at Essential Skills Levels 1 and 2, the curriculum’s main focus is to use real-life numeracy activities as a starting point in order to develop skills required in the workplace.
Supplemented with many online sites and supported by the LearningHUB, which has set up specific learning to assist individuals going through the various activities, the curriculum is created for a six-week class, three days per week, at three hours per day, but was also field-tested as a stand-alone document for each class.
Project READ is a dynamic community collaboration promoting the growth of literacy and Essential Skills in Waterloo-Wellington that works in collaboration with the local Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) agencies to develop training solutions to meet the literacy needs of its community.
