one_driveOriginally known as SkyDrive, and similar in functionality to Dropbox or Google Drive, OneDrive allows users to store content, such as files, pictures and documents, in the cloud.

But what makes it more interesting and worth exploring, especially for new technology users, is the free web version of OneDrive that allows you to view, edit, share and embed Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote documents directly within one account, without having to purchase the desktop software – a great feature for those who might not want to or might not be able to purchase the full version of the program.

evernoteEvernote is a suite of Apps and products that “make modern life manageable, by letting you easily collect and find everything that matters.” Think of it as a digital file cabinet that stores your notes, links, resources, recipes, and anything else you might want to keep or refer to in the future. It can also be great for daily journals or as a task or project management system, even for writing fiction.

It is accessible from any device – you can access Evernote via a browser or desktop software on your computer or via Apps on your smartphones or tablets. You can even install Evernote Web Clipper to make it easier to “save anything you see online – including text, links and images – into your Evernote account with a single click.”

Storify – tell your story using content from social media channels and the web

storifyStorify is a service that lets you create cool visual stories on specific topics by pulling content from social media channels and the web. You create an account, search media channels to collect content on a topic of your choice and then publish and share it on the web. With one search, you can look through and add content from other Storify users, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Flickr, Instagram, and even specific websites that you might manage.
