Digital Toolbox self-directed courses have been discontinued.

Do you want to build a library of digital tools to enrich the learning environment you are creating?

The Planning Your Digital Toolbox course will help you figure out what tools to use, when to use them and how to use them as you develop a blended learning approach that works best for you and the learners you work with.

A digital toolbox is a collection of digital technology tools that enrich the learning environment for learners and instructors. The tools in a digital toolbox are interactive and encourage learners to become creators, producers, editors, collaborators and, at times, evaluators.

Learning objectives

As a Planning Your Digital Toolbox participant, you will:

  • Plan, experience and evaluate blended learning approaches.
  • Increase your confidence in applying blended learning practices.

How it works

This course is six self-directed reflective-practice modules where you will

  • explore what informs your ideas about teaching and your  teaching philosophy
  • develop a personalized blended learning approach that works in your context
  • explore digital technology tools and resources that will enhance and expand learning in your program and encourage learners to become creators, producers, editors, collaborators and, at times, evaluators
  • develop a toolbox of technology that meets the needs and goals of your personalized blended learning plan

You can work through the modules at your own pace.

There is a place to learn and, for each module, you will be invited to do an activity that will lead to the creation of a  personalized digital toolbox. You can communicate with a facilitator to ask questions, share ideas and get feedback on your work.

Why it works

One of the great things about a course like this is that we find out about things we didn’t even realize we needed!  My toolbox is growing, and the more I learn, the more tools I will have available when I need them.

Why it works

I learned about some new-to-me tools and was prompted to closely evaluate reasons for and methods of using those tools to enhance and expand learning.

Why it works

It was very convenient to have the option to participate asynchronously, so that I could still take part even if I was teaching learners and could not attend scheduled meeting times.
