iWordQ CA

iWordQ CA is an easy-to-use writing and reading application to assist struggling writers and readers. In Writing mode, a simple text editor is used for writing with the support of word prediction, abbreviation-expansion and speech feedback features. Spell-check and dictionary access is included. You can also use the microphone to dictate your text. Documents are automatically saved in text format (.txt). You can share documents with the iPad’s mail app or with other applications that will accept .txt files. In Reading mode, text is shown in a more visually pleasing manner to improve readability. This is used for reading your text back, for proofreading or reading aloud. A text chunking method can be selected to enhance comprehension and readability of text to allow you to focus on one text chunk at a time.

• Documents located in iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive or One Drive can be opened in iWordQ.
• The speech recognition function, that will let you speak your text, offers support to users who have difficulties with the keyboard or who are uncomfortable at writing in general.
• In reading mode, the text chunking method enables the user to easily follow the text read. This offers an excellent support to struggling readers.

Cons

• In writing mode, although this app enables the spell-check of your text, it is not a grammar checker; grammatical mistakes can go unnoticed.
• The reading mode only allows to read text written in iWordQ or documents that have been downloaded form Cloud, Dropbox, Google Drive or One Drive. This app will not, for example, read a web page opened in Safari. In order to read this kind of text, it must be copied and pasted in iWordQ (or read through the Speak function of the iPad).
